Emma is currently working on a project to develop an 'aberrant' opioid-related behaviour scale for use in Australia. Since joining NDARC in 2002 she has worked on a number of projects, including: a cohort study investigating the impact of parental substance use on infant development and family functioning; an evaluation of a service for homeless men; assisted in the preparation of a monograph of alcohol use in pregnancy for the IGCD Working Party on Foetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder; a data linkage project investigating factors associated with alcohol use in pregnancy; the Illicit Drug Reporting System and the Ecstasy and Related Drugs Reporting System (two national drug trend monitoring projects); an investigation into injecting drug users' understanding of hepatitis C; and research into Australian prison drug strategies. She also has provided assistance with interviewing on a number of projects including the National Needle and Syringe Program (NSP) Survey, a project investigating rural drug use, a study of drug use, dependence and mental health among GLB people reporting regular methamphetamine use, and in 2006 completed her Psychologists Registration under the NSW Psychologists Registration Board.
