Key findings from the 2012 IDRS: Drug Trends conference handout

This handout (provided as part of the 2012 National Drug Trends Conference) presents key findings for the 2012 IDRS (people who inject drugs survey component) and may be subject to minor change. National data are available from 2000; however where trends over time are presented; only results from the most recent five years are presented here. Final figures will appear in the 2012 national and jurisdictional reports, to be released next year (April 2013). Previous years’ data are available in reports available here.

It is important to note the information from the people who inject drugs (PWID) survey is NOT representative of illicit drug use in the general population and nor is the information representative of all illicit drug users, but is indicative of emerging trends that warrant further investigation. Drug trends in this publication are cited by jurisdiction, although they primarily represent trends in the capital city of each jurisdiction, in which new drug trends are likely to emerge.
