In recognition of International Overdose Awareness Day, NDARC is holding a naloxone training session at 2.00pm on Wednesday, 28 August 2019.

The training session is free but registration is essential. Click here to register.

Naloxone is an opioid antagonist that is a safe and effective agent for reversing the effects of opioids, including pharmaceutical opioids (e.g. methadone, codeine, fentanyl, morphine) and illicit opioids (e.g. heroin).

Take-home naloxone is one of the key interventions to help reduce opioid overdose mortality and is strongly supported for all people who may experience or witness an overdose. You can read more about naloxone here.

The training session will be run by a certified trainer and provide information on identifying and responding to overdose.

Stop Overdose Safely (S-O-S) Initiative

In 2017, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and World Health Organization (WHO) launched the Stop Overdose Safely (S-O-S) Initiative. The S-O-S Initiative aims to save lives by promoting access to naloxone and the training of potential first responders in overdose management. Click here to read more about the S-O-S Initiative.
