Dami graduated from Queensland University of Technology in 2013 with a Bachelor of Psychology, Distinction. She went on to complete Master of Public Health with Distinction at the University of Newcastle. Her Masters thesis systematically reviewed foreign body related injuries among paediatric populations internationally. Dami joined NDARC as a Research Assistant in 2015 initially working on a the National Opioids Medications Abuse Deterrence (NOMAD) study, which aims to monitor changes in the misuse and diversion of oxycodone in Australia. She joined the DPMP team in 2016 working on the Social Costs of Smoking in NSW project lead by Dr Marian Shanahan and the NADA Treatment Service Specifications project with Professor Alison Ritter.
