Tobacco and e-cigarette use among two samples of people from Canberra, ACT who use illicit drugs

The Illicit Drug Reporting System (IDRS) and the Ecstasy and Related Drug Reporting System (EDRS) are national drug monitoring systems intended to identify emerging trends of local and national concern in illicit drug markets, and form part of Drug Trends.

Daily tobacco use is continuing to decline in the ACT, whilst e-cigarette use is increasing. Despite the decrease of tobacco use in the general population in the ACT, smoking is significantly more pervasive among populations of people who use illicit drugs. The patterns of e-cigarette use also differs between population data and different subpopulations of people who consumed illicit drugs.

The aim of this bulletin is to provide a brief update on tobacco and e-cigarette use amongst two samples of people from Canberra, ACT who use illicit drugs.
