This webinar will explore means restriction as interventions to reduce public access to poisons and present a systematic review that analysed changes in suicide rates in various countries and periods. Next, it will examine all medicines and substances detected at the time of death in suicides in Australia using coronial toxicology data. Finally, it will examine medicine poisoning suicide deaths in the context of how the same medicines are used in the general population.

About this speaker:

Dr Jessy Lim is a post-doctoral research fellow at NDARC who recently completed a PhD on medicines and substances detected in suicides in Australia. Jessy is interested in using databases such as NCIS and PBS and linked data to investigate patterns in drug use and drug harms such as poisoning and adverse events. She is also a registered pharmacist.
