The accomplishments of four NDARC staff members were recognised at the 2014 UNSW Medicine Dean’s Awards on Tuesday 11 November.

Dr Suzanne Nielsen and Dr Michael Livingston were recipients of the Dean’s Rising Star award in recognition of their achievements as Early Career Researchers. Dr Nielsen's post-doctoral work focuses on pharmaceutical opioid dependence and treatment responses, while Dr Livingston is investigating the epidemiology of alcohol use and related harms, and the impacts of alcohol policy on behaviour.

Doctoral candidates Gabrielle Campbell and Katrina Champion earned the Dean’s List award for their outstanding contribution to substance misuse research. Gabrielle's doctoral research focuses on the use and misuse of pharmaceutical opioids among those with chronic pain, while Katrina's PhD will examine the effectiveness of an internet-based program for drug and alcohol prevention among adolescents.

The UNSW Medicine Dean's Awards are held annually to recognise and reward exceptional work by faculty staff.

Congratulations to all four winners!
